Dionae is a warm shawl, half brioche half garter stitch.

Based on transparency, it is worked with a single thread and a mohair thread, playing with stripes and contrast to accentuate the geometrical look of its peculiar construction.

It is worked with short rows, lots of them, all different, no time to be bored !

Material

• Thread : about 620 m of fingering (single) and 390 m of mohair.

I used 620 meters of Cigale (70% merinos/30 %silk, 400m/100g) and 390 meters of Bombyle (72% kid mohair/28% silk, 400m/5 g) from les Laines du Scarabée.

• Circular needles, 3,75 mm.

• About 15 markers for the brioche section.

Gauge

Gauge is not essential, but for information : 18 st x 20 visible rows (40 rows) in simple brioche stitch = 10 cm width and height.

• Each technique used in this pattern has a video link. Those videos are in French, but easily understandable just by watching.

• A picture of the shawl blocking with instructions is included + schematic.

Dionae est un châle doudou par excellence, mi point brioche mi point mousse. Basé sur un jeu de transparence, il se tricote avec un fil single et un fil mohair travaillés en rayures et en contraste de matières pour accentuer l’effet géométrique de sa construction particulière. Il se tricote un peu dans tous les sens grâce à des rangs raccourcis courts et nombreux, on n’a pas le temps de s’ennuyer !

Matériel :

• Fil : environ 620 m de fingering single et 390 m de mohair.

J’ai utilisé 620 m de Cigale (70%mérinos/20% soie, 400m/100g) et 390 m de Bombyle (72% kid mohair/28% soie, 400m/50g) des Laines du Scarabée.

• Aiguilles circulaires 3,75 mm.

• Une quinzaine de marqueurs pour la partie brioche à motif si nécessaire. m

Échantillon

L’échantillon n’est pas primordial pour ce projet, mais à titre indicatif : 18 m x 20 rg «visibles» en point brioche (donc 40 rgs normaux) = 10 cm de hauteur et largeur.

• Une photo du modèle en cours de blocage, accompagnée d’instructions, est incluse dans le patron.
