Dieta Istantanea
Dieta Istantanea (a.k.a. Instant Diet) - with a clever use of colors this sweater will instantly make the wearer look slimmer. This is done by using a darker color for the sides and a lighter one in the center. This combination of techniques, intarsia and knitting in the round creates color blocks that accentuates body forms. A small two-color cable emphasizes the transition from one color to the next across the shoulders, sleeves, sides, and hems.
The sweater is constructed starting with the saddle sleeves: first knitting both saddles, then pick up stitches for the back and fronts. Then, eventually picking up the stitches for the top of the sleeve caps. Body and sleeves are worked simultaneously until the underarm, where the sleeves are put on waste yarn to be finished top-down, later. The body is worked in the round to the end.
The magic of this pattern is that not only it makes the wearer look slimmer, but while knitting it, the knitter will eventually loose that weight she was trying so hard and so long to reduce. That’s why it looks so loose fitting in the pictures!
A special thanks goes to my tester j-i-m-i-n-i for her time and attention and to my fabulous tech editor, Debbi at Hummingbird Lace (DLF716 on Ravelry) for her careful review.
