The Danny Brow Jumper is a simple striped design that truly puts the jump in jumper! The textured ridges seem to bounce up and down, just like I imagine the young wearer does – jumping through piles of crisp autumn leaves.

A few things to keep in mind when knitting this: when measuring the length, avoid stretching it too much, but do remember that it will drop slightly after washing. This jumper is designed to be very oversized, meaning it will last your little one a long time. As they grow, it will gradually shift from an oversized fit to a more fitted style – while still working perfectly as a cosy, comfortable jumper.

And if you fancy knitting one for yourself, the Sedgwick Jumper is the adult version, designed following the familiar request in the Skipton studio for a grown-up version of this much-loved children’s knit!

CONSTRUCTION
The back, front and two sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in separate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop shoulder. The neck edge is picked up and knitted.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, decreasing at the neck shaping, increasing, one simple striping, cast off, picking up stitches at neck. Joining seams. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch and three needle cast off.

GAUGE (tension)
20 stitches and 38 rows to 10cm/4ins square over ridge striped pattern. I obtained these gauges with 4mm needles. It is important to obtain the correct gauge so do work a swatch before you start the pattern and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.
