Dancing dices
The Dancing Dices shawl is a simple, symmetrical triangle shawl featuring regular increases on both edges and along the center. The shawl’s checkered pattern uses only knits and purls, making it an ideal project for beginners.
This versatile pattern works well with many yarn types—from warmer blends like wool, alpaca, or baby yak to lighter options like cotton. The model measures 220 x 85 cm (87 x 33”), and you can easily customize the size by adjusting the length of pattern blocks to suit your preference.
YARN
1 thread sport weight yarn
Yarn usage:
BC Garn Semilla Melange GOTS – 100% wool (50 g / 175 m // 191 yds): 5 skeins
Yardage: 875 m / 955 yds
NEEDLES & MATERIALS
3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles, 60 - 80 cm (24 - 32”) in length
Tapestry needle
GAUGE
10 x 10 cm (4 x 4”) = 22 sts x 30 rows in stockinette stitch on 3.5 mm (US 4) needle
The gauge and needle size used for this pattern are only an indication and don’t need to fit perfectly. Just make sure that the yarn you have chosen works well with the checkered pattern, and preferably swatch the yarn beforehand in order to adjust the needle size, if needed, for the best outcome.
