Cup Of Kindness Cowl
While I mostly just hum along to Auld Lang Syne every New Year’s Eve, I have always loved the lyrics “we’ll take a cup o’ Kindness yet”. This cowl is inspired by the kindness we share, and the ‘fill line’ in our cups of kindness!
This pattern is for a reversible, gauge-less cowl that can be knit with any yarn, at any gauge. The pattern features a biased construction, rolled edges, and traveling slipped stitches. The traveling slipped stitches (on both RS & WS) cross the work creating the fill line in our cup of kindness. These stitches move across the fabric, with increases pushing and decreases pulling the stitches toward the opposite side.

If you have a perfect skein (or 2), no matter the yarn weight, you can knit this pattern! Knit one to fill up your own cup of kindness or to pour into others’ cups!
YARN – NEEDLES - GAUGE
Any weight yarn, any size needles that produces desired fabric! Width and Length are completely customizable.
FINISHED SIZE
Size will vary based on yarn weight, sts cast on, and amount of yarn used. The finished cowl can also be worn in many ways: as a scarf, seamed or buttoned into a circle or a point. Depending on the finished length, you can fill up your cup many times, and create one or multiple loops around your neck.
Samples knit in various weights of yarn, and details are listed in the pattern, as well as the last pattern picture on this page.
YARN COLORS
Use a single vibrant skein or use multiple skeins, pairing a solid or tonal colorway with a mini-skein set, variegated, tonal, self-striping, gradient or magic cake!
