The colorwork makes the Cross My Heart hat a fun and interesting project to knit. When you make it with Durable Soqs, it will keep you warm and snuggly during chilly fall and winter days.

About this pattern

  • Pattern construction: This hat is knitted in the round from the bottom up;
  • This hat is knitted using two strands of yarn held together: Use the end from the center of your ball and the end coming from the outside of your ball;
  • Work from the chart: The pattern in the chart is not given in written directions. Knit the sts of rounds 1-16 as follows: 1 box in the light color in the chart means k1 in color B. 1 box in the dark color in the chart means k1 in color A.
  • Avoid puckering: Don’t pull the floats too tight when working the colorwork section as this can lead to puckering;
  • Make a swatch: Knit your gauge swatch according to the colorwork chart to make sure your gauge is correct (Fair Isle tends to be tighter than regular stockinette stitch);
  • For the Italian tubular cast on: A helpful tutorial on this cast on method can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEbC-2C5dO0
