From the designer: The patterns are not quite as detailed, and it is designed to be a good starting point for someone new to knitting lace. Both the stole and scarf have a garter stitch border. As Shetland lace is garter stitch based it blends in nicely. Charlotte was inspired in part by the book Charlotte’s Web. Some of the names of the stitch patterns involve spiders or have a spider web type of appearance. I have seen the spider weaving her web tied to lace making so it was fitting to name the stole Charlotte.
