The Celebration Cardigan is a celebration of knitting, local yarn stores and indie dyers- three things that are at the heart of our community!

The pattern was developed as collaboration with Do Ewe Knit and Queen City Yarn and it is the squishiest cardigan that I’ve ever designed! It’s knit entirely in garter stitch (that’s where the huge squish factor comes in) and features a slipped stitch pattern that reminds me of cake frosting. Warning: casting on this cardigan will render you unwilling to do anything other than knit and watch The Great British Baking Show. Which, to be honest, sounds pretty dreamy.

Celebration is cast on at the bottom and knit flat to the underarms. From that point on the front and back are worked separately to the shoulders, which are grafted together. Next, the sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round to the cuffs. Finally, the button band is added as an applied edging.

Choose a size with 2-6” / 5-15cm of positive ease.

Yarn: Queen City Yarn Latta, MC approx. 850 (950, 1050, 1150)(1250, 1350, 1450)(1600, 1700, 1800) yards / 780 (875, 970, 1060)(1150, 1240, 1335)(1470, 1565, 1660) meters, CC approx 200 (225, 275, 325)375, 425, 47575, 625) yards/ 185 (210, 250, 300)(345, 390, 440)(480, 530, 575) meters.

Gauge: 21 stitches and 36 rows in 4”/10cm with larger needle in garter stitch, flat and blocked. 24 sts and 38 rounds in 4”/10cm in garter st, in the round and blocked.

Needles: US #6 / 4mm and US #5 / 3.75mm circulars— or size needed to obtain gauge plus one size smaller.

Notions: 1 BOR marker, stitch holders, yarn needle, six ¾” buttons.
