The Castelluccio hat is a warm knit, that will keep your ears warm in cold winter. The hat features a wide colorwork brim, this colorwork part shows a graphic drawing of mountains. To keep the colorwork brim stabilized after it is done, one more layer of the brim is worked and then both parts of the brim are joined together. Then the rest of the hat is worked, and once you are done, the brim is folded up, so you get a triple layer of knitting to keep your ears warm. Inspiration for this hat comes from a little town in Southern Italy called Castelluccio Superiore. It is a little and quiet town that is located on a mountain as a lot of Southern Italy towns are.

Finished measurements:
The hat will fit most women, men, and even older children. To make adjustments to the size, I recommend using thinner yarn and smaller needles or larger yarn and larger needles.
Circumference: 19.75 inches/ 50 cm.
Height (with brim folded): 8 inches/ 20 cm.

Yarn: Sample made using Fonty “Super tweed”, Aran weight. 50g/105m, 95% wool, 5% mohair.
You will need two colors. In sample MC- 025 (Ocre), CC- 011 (Lichen).
MC: Approximately 145 yards/ 130 m.
CC: Approximately 85 yards/ 75 m.
Yardage may vary if your gauge/yarn is different.
If you want to add pom pom to your hat, you will need more yarn.

Needles: US #8/ 5 mm circular needles (40cm) and DPNs for crown decreases. You can also use “magic loop” or DPNs all the way through.
Or as required to meet gauge.

Gauge: 16 sts & 24 rounds to 4” (10cm) in stockinette stitch worked in the round, after blocking.
Other notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle, pom pom maker (optional).
