Cas Hat
Cas Hat (‘kos’, meaning twist in Irish) is a two-coloured hat with an interlacing ribbon cable, inspired by the Golden Age of Irish Art.
Cas Hat accompanies the Cas shawl, released earlier this year.
The pattern is worked in the round, beginning with a ribbed brim. It features a single cable motif (based on my Cas Shawl pattern), worked in two colours, over garter stitch. It is finished with a gathered crown, for a slightly slouchy fit. The pattern is worked in the round, with only one colour per row. Cable stitches are slipped when working a round in the ‘other’ colour.
Skills required: garter stitch in the round, working cables in two colours, slipping stitches, elongated stitches.
The main difficulty with this pattern is that there are quite a lot of slightly different cable stitches, so the cable requires attention.
Cable instructions are provided in both written and charted form.
