The Canton Vest has a cozy combination of stitch motifs evoking winter on the farm—fading honeysuckle vines, geese flying south overhead, the first light snow on the fields, and chickens safe in their coop.

The vest is worked bottom-up in pieces, with cabled shoulder pieces connecting front and back. Stitches are picked up at the neck, trim is worked in the round, then folded to the inside and sewn down. After sides are sewn together, stitches are picked up to work armhole trim in the round.
