This relaxed jumper incorporates a few ‘traditional’ gansey techniques - knitting the welt down from a provisional cast-on, and working shoulder saddles at 90 degrees to the body, to join the front and back.
The underarm gusset is slightly different to the traditional one, though, for a more gradual tapering of the arm. It uses four natural
shades of aran-weight wool, which was often used for ganseys in Scotland’s Highlands and Islands.
It combines a Robin Hood’s Bay gansey motif for the main body, with an aran-style welt and cuffs with cables.
