The Breton Cowl is an homage to the famous sailors’ sweater of France, to wear around your neck.

The contrast of hazy mohair/silk stripes against a matte velvet background is what it’s all about.

Each stripe is a nice little stockinette moment, with a clever maneuver to form a welt--a structural stripe--before returning to your regularly scheduled garter stitch.

A fast knit and a luxurious accessory.

The photography sample used 1 skein of Shibui Knits Silk Cloud, and about 3.5 skeins of Shibui Knits Drift. You could keep knitting and make yours a little wider.
