Pattern #5007

There are two versions of this scarf. For both scarves, cables are knitted so that they appear on both sides, making the scarves reversible. Version 1 (lower left in the picture) is shorter, narrower, and has a ruffled hem (approximately 4” X 49”). Version 2 (upper right in the picture) is longer, wider, and has a ribbed hem (approximately 6” X 56”).

Yarn: Version 1: I used one skein of my handspun yarn (314 yds, 4.55oz; approximately 13 wraps per inch; 100% alpaca in a natural chocolate brown color). Version 2: I used 3 skeins of Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium Merino (175 yds and 50g per skein; 100% merino wool, dye code P800).

Needles: Version 1: a pair of US size 4 needles. Version 2: a pair of US size 3 needles.

Gauge: Version 1: 6 sts per inch in stockinette stitch on size 4 needles. Version 2: 6 sts per inch in stockinette stitch on size 3 needles.
