This simple V-neck jumper is all about relaxed, effortless style. It has raw edges – which means no stitches to pick up and no ribbing – just let the fabric do its thing. The cuffs are roll-back because that’s exactly what stocking stitch wants to do when it’s left without an edging. I love the natural curl at the sleeve edges – it gives such a soft, lived-in look. Just one tip: I would just advise to be careful when measuring the length of the sleeve and keep in mind that it will curl to make sure you get the correct length.

This jumper was designed in response to a lovely request from a mum knitting for her daughter. Her daughter wanted a classic V-neck with just a little detail at the edges of the front and back – nothing fancy, just simple and beautiful.

CONSTRUCTION
The back, front and two sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in separate pieces and joined together. The sleeves are drop shoulder.

TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, simple lace pattern, decreasing at the neck shaping, cast off. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch seaming and three needle cast off.

YARN
4(5:5:6:6) 100g hanks of WYS Bluefaced Leicester DK.
100% British Bluefaced Leicester wool, 166m/182yds per 100g

SUGGESTED KNITTING NEEDLES
4mm.

GAUGE (tension)
21 stitches and 27 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch pattern. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain the correct gauge so do work a swatch before you start the pattern and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
I recommend a positive ease of 4-7ins/10-18cm at the chest.
