Soothing stitches - the simple increases and decreases in this hat dance together to create this appealing pattern that is really easy to knit but produces a gorgeous knitted fabric.

Inspired by Blue Lady tea from Pekoe Tea in Edinburgh

Materials

Ginger’s Hand Dyed Sturdy Splendor Sport (sport; 75% Organic Falklands Merino, 25% Silk; 333m / 364yd per 100g skein)
Shade: Blue Lady; 1 x 100g skein

3mm / US 2.5 circular needle 40cm / 16in length (or 80cm / 32in length for magic loop)
3.5mm / US 4 circular needle 40cm / 16in length (or 80cm / 32in length for magic loop)
3.5mm / US 4 set of DPNs for crown decreases, or longer circular needle for magic loop

10 (11, 12) stitch markers (optional, to mark pattern repeats)
You may find it helpful to have one different coloured stitch marker to mark the start of your rnd.

Gauge

Always use the needle size that enables you to match the specified gauge.

28 sts and 36 rnds over 10cm / 4in of 1x1 rib worked in the rnd and blocked, using 3mm / US 2.5 needles

26 sts and 34 rnds over 10cm / 4in of Ripple Pattern worked in the rnd and blocked, using 3.5mm / US 4 needles
