Bloom of Spring Shawl
This lace edged asymmetrical shawl can be made with pretty much any weight of yarn, and any size needle, depending on the type of fabric, and size shawl you want to end up with. Different weights of yarn and/or different needle sizes will give you a different finished size.
This shawl is completely adaptable to you.
The lace edge is simple enough for someone just beginning lace techniques, and is knit as a part of the shawl, going up along the side.
And because the main body of the shawl is done in stockinette, this works up very quickly.
The sample shown was created using Classic Elite Alpaca Sox and a U.S. size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle. I used about 700 yards of yarn, and that combination of yarn and needle size gave me a light and airy fabric with a gauge of approximately 24 stitches to 4 inches in stockinette stitch.
The shawl as shown measures 72 x 75 x 28 inches.
This pattern has a chart, and fully written out instructions for the chart.
