I love the Big Herringbone Cowl by Purl Soho. The herringbone stitch is absolutely beautiful and versatile.
I came up with these mittens to match the cowl. While the herringbone stitch is only used on the cuff, its the focus of the mittens. The hands are knit in stockinette with lateral braids (which I found in the Treads pattern by Victoria Anne Baker) to spice it up.
The cuffs are knit with large size needles (I used 7.00mm dpn) to create ease and keep it nice and loose. The hands are knit with smaller sized needles (I used 4.00mm dpn).
You only need 1 skein of yarn and it knits up in no time. Enjoy!
