I have read that in Alaska you are never far from a bear--black, brown, polar, or otherwise. Unfortunately the only bear I saw on my lone trip to Alaska was a stuffed grizzly in the lobby of our hotel. This shawl was inspired by the bears I didn’t see and the berries they feast on in summertime. The border will remind you of their claws reaching for the berries that make up the body of the shawl, while the center spine increases create a random leaf-like pattern.

Wingspan for size S is 40”; for L, 52”; sample is size L.

Gauge: 12 “berries” and 11 rows of “berries” across 4”

A fingering weight yarn will also work nicely for this shawl.
