Baseball Apple Cozy Cosy
My two youngest boys recently started back to school so it’s apple cosy making time again in my house. Both of them decided the cupcake cosy I designed last year was “Just for girls!” so, here is my ‘manly’ alternative with a sporting theme ;)
Two patterns are included - each is available in UK and US terms.
LARGE - to fit an apple with a circumference of up to 22.5 cm (9”)
SMALL - to fit an apple with a circumference of up to 20 cm (8”)
The small cosy has been designed specifically with a chocolate orange in mind. I always put one in the boy’s Christmas Stockings so I thought this might make a nice disguise :)
The baseball is worked as two flat, shaped pieces which are stitched together just like the real thing. As shown in the images, the fastener option I have included is a button with a flap. But, instructions are included for a hidden Velcro fastening if you prefer.
If fruit cosies aren’t your thing, why not fill with ‘fiberfill’ and seam fully closed to make a lovely soft toy ball!
YOU WILL NEED the following:
LARGE: less than 50m white/cream DK yarn, a 3.50 mm hook, 8 stitch markers, a button (or Velcro if desired), 1.5 - 2 m (1½ - 2 yds) contrasting yarn and a needle for stitching the seams and neatening ends.
SMALL: less than 50m white/cream DK yarn, a 3.50 mm hook, 4 stitch markers, a button (or Velcro if desired), 1.5 - 2 m (1½ - 2 yds) contrasting yarn and a needle for stitching the seams and neatening ends.
Both sizes and versions have been fully tested.
