Kate Larson’s argyle socks are typical in construction and design of many 1940s knitting patterns for ladies’ argyle anklets. But the instructions are updated to ease your argyle experience.

Materials

  • West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4-Ply, 75% wool (35% Bluefaced Leicester wool), 25% nylon, light fingering weight, 437 yard (400 m)/3.5 oz (100 gram), 1 ball each of Dusty Miller 129 (MC, gray), Cardamom 351 (CC1, green), and Turmeric 358 (CC2, orange)
  • Needles, size 0 (2.0 mm) single-pointed and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Optional pair of single-pointed or double-pointed needles, size 000 (1.5 mm) for cuff ribbing
  • Yarn bobbins for intarsia (optional)
  • Tapestry needle, size 20

Finished measurements: 7¼“ (18.4 cm) foot circumference,
9½” (24.1 cm) foot length from center back heel to tip of toe, and 33/4” (9.5 cm) leg length from top
of cuff to start of heel flap.

Gauge: 38 sts and 53 rows/rnds = 4” (10.2 cm) in St st
after blocking. Always work a swatch when selecting
needle size.
