Arvo is a classical open cardigan. It is soft and generous, just perfect for wrapping around you after a summer swim or while sitting around a fire. Arvo is an heirloom cardigan, a treasured coat which you can pass on to future generations.

Arvo is worked top down in one piece starting from the center back of the shawl collar. The cables of the collar continue all the way to the hem. The stitches of the body are increased with raglan increases and some width is added to the collar at the same time. The sleeves are snug and worked in 1/1 ribbing. The body is straight and worked in stockinette. The hem has a high ribbing which hides two pockets. They will fit your phone or a ball of yarn. The hem and cuffs are finished with a sewn bind off which gives the cardigan a sophisticated look.

More value (Arvo means value in Finnish) is added to the cardigan by using Jalovilla’s soft Uuhi DK yarn. The wool is handpicked from Finnish sheep farms and after spinning, it is carefully handdyed to the beautiful Kesä (summer) colourway. Yarn substitutes are given in the pattern.

Yarn: Jalovilla Uuhi, 100% wool from Finnish sheep breeds, (100g = 230m), colourway Kesä 3697, 7 (7, 8, 8, 9) (10, 10, 11, 11) skeins. Total of 1690 (1800, 1890, 2020, 2200) (2450, 2530, 2720, 2830) yds / 1550 (1650, 1730, 1840, 2010) (2240, 2310, 2490, 2580) m. You can use any yarn, but this will affect your gauge and the amount of yarn needed.

Needles: US 6 (4,0 mm) circulars of 40 and 80 cm and dpns if preferred.

Gauge for stockinette: 18 sts ja 24 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm with US 6 (4,0 mm) needles, blocked.

Arvo on pehmeä turvaneule, klassikko. Ajattelin kesän viileitä hetkiä, kääriytymistä uimareissun jälkeen tai iltanuotiolla lämpimään, perintökalleutena siirtyvään palmikkotakkiin. Arvon suojiin keräytyvät monen sukupolven muistot. Arvo on väljä ja reilu ja sen suojiin mahtuu monta lämmittelijää.

Arvo neulotaan ylhäältä alaspäin aloittaen shaalikauluksesta, joka jatkuu edessä palmikkokuvioituna alas asti. Silmukat vartaloon lisätään raglanlisäyksin, samalla lisätään leveyttä edessä kauluksen reunassa. Hihat ovat 1o,1n -joustinneuletta ja istuvat tiukasti. Suora vartalo-osa neulotaan sileällä neuleella edessä ja takana. Helman 1o,1n -joustinneule on 20 cm korkea ja sisältää edessä upotetut piilotaskut, joihin mahtuu puhelin tai lankakerä. Takin helma ja hihansuut päätellään ommellen, mikä antaa takille viimeistellyn leiman. Lisää arvoa takille tuo kullankeltainen Uuhi-lanka, joka on kehrätty käsin valikoidusta suomalaisesta villasta.
