Antha Wrap
Introductory Promo -- Through the end of Sunday, 9/12 (PST), the Antha Wrap and all my other patterns/ebooks are 20% off, no code needed!
The Antha Wrap, named for my fiber-mad young niece, is my first design foray into mohair/silk! Floaty and translucent, the Marianated Yarns Aerie pairs beautifully with a 6-color Scrumptious HT Perfection Gradient Set. The wrap is knit on the bias and when strongly blocked, the lace creates subtle waves in the striped sections. The pattern is rhythmic and repetitive, and the final result is more than the sum of its parts. Two sizing options are given for the same yardage — the Longer Wrap shown at right and a Wider Wrap with less length.
This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.
Recommended Yarn:
Marianated Yarns Scrumptious HT, Six Pack Perfection Gradient Set (Contrast Colors 1-6) — 80% superwash merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon — 800 yds (732 m) to 200 g in total (approximately 33 g of each color). Shown in colorway Stone Tavern Trail in Longer Wrap and in Racing Silks in Wider Wrap.
Marianated Yarns Aerie, one solid skein (Main Color)— 72% superkid mohair / 28% Mulberry silk — 459 yds (420 m) to 50 g. Shown in colorway Tidal Pool in Longer Wrap and Roadhouse in Wider Wrap.
The Antha Wrap in both sizes uses most of both the gradient set and the mohair/silk.
Sizing:
Longer Wrap - 109” (277 cm) along longest side and 17” (43 cm) in width, 19” (48 cm) on bias.
Wider Wrap - 91.5” (232 cm) along longest side and 21” (53 cm) in width, 27” (68 cm) on bias. NOTE: I prefer this size!
Blocked Gauge:
21 sts and 28 rows to 4” (10 cm) in lace pattern, worked in Scrumptious HT / 20 sts and 24 rows to 4” (cm) in stockinette st, worked in Aerie and Scrumptious HT.
PLEASE NOTE: I used a US 6 (4 mm) needle in the sample, but as I tend to knit on the tighter side, the pattern calls for a needle one size smaller. Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used. To meet these dimensions, be sure to use the needle size that gives gauge.
Needles:
US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle, 24” (60 cm) or longer.
Other Materials:
5-6 stitch markers, tapestry needle.
Many thanks to Marian of Marianated Yarns for her support! This pattern has been professionally tech edited by Lisa Beth Houchins (Meanest Mommy Knits).
