Bavarian Merino Sport
A German wool yarn, sourced and spun in Bavaria and dyed in Brandenburg. The yarn has a wonderfully woollen handle without being scratchy. While all my English yarns are worsted spun, this one is woollen spun, meaning that the fibres got carded prior to spinning instead of being combed. This results in a yarn that is bouncy and airy and that insulates even more than worsted spun yarn because there is more air trapped in it. It is particularly suited for garments!
With this yarn base I tried to get back into experimenting much more, one of the particular charms of natural dyeing which I enjoy so much. This is why the majority of the colours on offer was gained from plants I foraged myself or peels and pits I collected in the kitchen, spiced up with the occasional exotic dyestuff. As a result there are often only a few skeins of one particular colour. I have also not named the colours because most of them cannot be repeated, the emphasis lies clearly on the dyestuff and not on a repeatable colourway.
I have come up with a lot of very subtle shades which are very suitable for stranded knitting. These colours can also be combined perfectly with the same quality directly available at RAUWERK.
