After years of dreaming, this is the first yarn being launched under the Skein Sisters brand and we couldn’t be more excited. Everyone deserves fabulous yarn is our tagline so it made absolute sense that our first yarn range is totally fabulous!

Fabulous Sock is a blend of 80% Australian extra fine superwash merino and 20% nylon. It’s a plump and squishy sock yarn that is beautiful to use with a soft and smooth handle that glides through your hands. The Australian wool is 19.5 microns, which gives it the title of ‘extra fine merino’. It’s soft enough to wear against your skin but not so soft that it’s going to pill terribly.

With added nylon, Fabulous Sock is the best of all worlds. It’s tough enough to make socks but it’s also perfect for any other pattern that requires 4ply / sock or fingering weight yarn. Knitting, crochet and weaving, shawls, cardigans, jumpers, sweaters, scarves and accessories… you name it, it’s perfect for them all.

Fabulous Sock is available in a huge range of hand-dyed colours, all developed and dyed at Skein Sisters in Dulwich Hill, Sydney. Being a superwashed yarn, it takes the dye beautifully and we can dye colours from the palest whites to moody darks, and intense brights and fluoros, in semi-solid and speckled colourways all with that beautifully unique quality that only comes with a hand-dyed yarn.

As this is a hand-dyed yarn we recommend alternating skeins when working with a single colour.

The yarn is constructed of four plies, which gives it strength, durability and density. It creates a rounded yarn, giving great structure to cables, lace, textured stitches and is beautifully even and smooth in stocking stitch.
