Washed cotton added at 15% by weight to wool to produce a 2-ply, DK weight yarn yarn. The result is a little lighter and has a different appearance from our 100% wool yarns. There are white cotton flecks interspersed throughout the coloured wool, to give a tweed effect. The loftier nature of this yarn produces a gauge with slightly fewer stitches (21-22 stitches over 4 inches using stocking stitch and 4 mm (US6) needles) than our worsted spun 100% wool DKW yarn. Although it can be used with DKW in a project, you need to keep in mind that the W/C is not produced from superwash fibre, and so needs to be hand-washed. Any garment knit with W/C should also be hand-washed, even if it also has machine-washable yarn as well. The W/C comes in 100 g skeins (Approximately 300 yds) and is available in 14 hand-dyed colours and Natural White.
