Prism
Prism is the newest addition to the La Bien Aimée family. It is also the next chapter in our recycling story. From cut ties and underweight hanks, to colors that don’t quite come out right: There is a certain amount of waste that is inevitable in the hand-dyeing process. Part of our commitment to reducing waste has been finding ways to upcycle it. We take the bits of yarn, large and small, which would normally be discarded and incorporate them into new yarn.
In La Bien Aimée Prism, the LBA recycled threads are incorporated into the Merino wool when it is blended and combed. This allows each piece of La Bien Aimée recycled thread to mix into the main color. The result is a truly heathered, prismatic effect, with variations of color inside the yarn itself.
Inspired by the multi-tonal nature of precious and semi-precious stones, all of the Prism colorways are named after gemstones.
Prism is made of 50% Non-Superwash Merino with a 19.5 micron count, making it super soft. The other half of the wool content is made only of La Bien Aimée recycled yarn bits. These are a mix of all of our bases, some superwash and some non-superwash. Prism is a 2-ply, woolen-spun yarn.
