Super-soft 70% baby alpaca and 30% silk 2ply laceweight yarn hand dyed by Victoria in her garden shed in Yorkshire.

Askham Lace is luxurious, soft, lustrous, and lovely to work with. It creates a warm yet lightweight fabric, with good stitch definition. The silk content adds strength and gives the yarn a gentle sheen. Although this is a smooth yarn the fine baby alpaca has a slight fluffy halo to it; it is not fluffy in the way that mohair and brushed baby alpaca fluffy yarns are. It does make an amazing fabric when used held double with fluffy mohair laceweight (Eldwick Lace) though. You could also use it held double for a beautiful subtly marled fabric.

We recommend that you wash dark colours separately or wash a swatch before using dark and light colours together.

As with all hand dyed yarns, I would recommend that you alternate skeins if using more than one.
