Yarn properties:
It’s an incredibly soft and slightly fluffy single ply mulberry silk with a subtle halo. It has a gorgeous sheen and a wonderful stitch definition.

How to wind the yarn:
This yarn behaves very slippery during winding. If you use a winder, we recommend to wind it extremely (!) slowly to avoid slipping off of the strand of yarn to the top or bottom of the growing ball.
Please use the yarn from the outside of your ball. Don’t use it as a center pull ball.

Tips for working with this yarn:
Pure silk, especially Mulberry silk, takes some getting used to. But it’s definitely worth the effort. For slippery yarns like pure Mulberry silk we recommend to use wood or carbon needles.
For this particular yarn type we recommend to use a plastic bag on your lap to avoid extensive friction between pants and WIP.

How to wash your FO:
hand wash in cold or lukewarm water with silk or wool washing agent
ATTENTION: Very intense and/or dark colors on pure silks tend to bleed, especially blue, teal, purple and red. We recommend to soak the finished object in a hot water bath with lots of vinegar for about 30 minutes. Use gloves to avoid fixation of excess dye on your skin. Afterwards soak your garment in luke warm to cold water with a very small amount of silk washing agent (like SOAK). Rinse with luke warm to cold water until the water is clear.

A few words about the smell of our yarns:
After the dyeing process, which involves white vinegar, we wash each color batch with unscented silk washing agent (SOAK). Because of that the smell of vinegar isn’t masked with any fragrance, therefore you might notice a lingering smell of vinegar. This smell will dissipate after washing your garment for the first time. If you find it particularly annoying you can also wash the skein before working with it.
