SilkenSea{f} is a fingering weight yarn of 70% mulberry (bombyx mori) silk and 30% seacell spun in the mountains of Switzerland by Camenzind, who has been spinning silk since the mid 1800s. Each 100 gm skein is 400 meters (approximately 437 yards) of lusciously shiny lightweight yarn, perfect for summer or warm weather projects.

Seacell is a marvelous cellulose fiber made using the Lyocell process out of seaweed harvested in Iceland - the same process used to make Tencel, Bamboo, Viscose, and Modal. To learn more about seacell, visit smartfiberAG.

This yarn has an elegant, luxe sheen, a smooth twist, gorgeous drape and a soft hand you have to feel to believe. Holds a block beautifully too. drapy and oh, so elegant, utterly gorgeous.

Hand washing is recommended. The dyes I use are low-impact Procion MX fiber reactive dyes, the same that I use for all dyedianadye garments and accessories. I use a cold water process, randomly distributing color, often in multiple baths to produce a glazed and layered effect. The result is no regular striping or predictable pooling. In addition, both the silk and linen fibers take up the dye. You will not have white linen strings or haze in this yarn.

All skeins within a lot or between lots will vary from one other. If your garment requires more than a single skein, consider alternating between skeins.

Base yarn spun in Switzerland and dyed by me in my Atlanta studio.

Caking your skein is an add-on option.
