So the Countess has resisted bringing in a plied superwash merino fingering for years because her heart is set on British yarn that is strong but still soft, plus she hates seeing people using the wrong yarn for the project.

Don’t use this yarn for socks. If you choose to, don’t come crying to us!

Merino is super soft and whilst it is perfect for projects that won’t see much friction, such as that dream shawl you’ve always wanted to make, you’ll get a couple of wears with this yarn as socks and then you’ll be disappointed. You need nylon or a strong long staple wool as the Countess advises in her blog post.

But all those other stunning projects in need of softness, crack on with those hooks and needles and enjoy this caressible yarn.
