My favorite project to make for any baby near or here is a blanket. It takes much longer to outgrow than a garment and can be used much more often. My favorite baby blankets to make are good looking on both sides, gender neutral and contain enough of a pattern to keep my interest without being cumbersome to remember.

Much like the phenomena from which this shawl derives its name, Varve is shaped by layers. Layers of lace!
