Notes
This collection contains patterns for three stranded color-work mittens with roots in the State of Maine.
Each design is presented in 3 sizes, ranging from a large child or small adult size, to a pretty substantial adult size—the exact measurements, both length, and circumference around the palm, are given.
Yardage for each color in every pattern is also listed, making it easy to use leftovers and stash yarn if desired. The yarn used in the samples is listed, with it’s weight and yardage, to make it easier to substitute.
The various sizes do not depend on changes in gauge or type of yarn. For each pattern all sizes are fully charted and call for the same gauge and yarn. No adjustments need to be made by the knitter, as long as the stitch and row gauge are followed.
The mittens vary in style, but all include a gusseted thumb which is located slightly towards the palm of the hand—an anatomical and very comfortable style which does not cause distortion in the color pattern with wear.
All designs have been fully edited and tested by experienced knitters.
