The time had come for the truce between land and sea to be renewed. For thousands of centuries the creatures of the ocean’s depths and the animals of the land had met every 100 years to re-sign the truce which had been set in stone by their ancestors to keep the peace. As this day arrived there was an air of unrest that was felt far and wide. And while the signing of the treaty had always thought to be a formality, in the past few years the air of change and turmoil was circulating.
Droplet the Mermaid, Mila the Mermaid, and Nola the Water Nymph sat in the underwater palace of the Seven Sea and discussed the upcoming treaty signing. “We the Merpeople, protectors of the seas are ready to sign the treaty and continue the peace that we have enjoyed for centuries,” Droplet stated. “We the Merpeople, protectors of the oceans are ready to sign the treaty and continue the peace as well,” Mila stated.
“We the water nymphs, protectors of the terrestrial water basins and waterways are not ready to sign the treaty. We want to be free to take back the land that was rightfully bestowed upon us before Lisbeth, Hippocampus, Medusa, Harpy, Gargoyle, Jackalope, and Flower fairy stole it from us!” demanded Nola.
“What do you propose we do? If we do not sign the treaty we will restart the war of the worlds. Is that what you want?” Mila asked. “I would rather not have a war, but I am also not happy with the arrangement we have now. We deserve the land. The ocean creatures were here first so we should own everything. The land creatures should be grateful we have let them use our land!” Nola screamed.
Both Droplet and Mila were very worried. Never had they seen this behavior from Nola. Even worse, she was driven by a blind rage that would ultimately lead to war. “Well, we need to discuss the best way to approach this and then we can talk about our next step. Does that sound good to you, Nola?” Mila asked, hoping she would be reasonable.
“Oh course. I do realize things are not where we want them to be, but we can discuss a way to get them there,” Nola said but she had other thoughts. These two will continue to be happy with their subjugation by the land dwellers but I shall not be oppressed any more. Be careful land dwellers. Nola is coming for you and you will rue the day you thought that you could underestimate me. She turned and left the great atrium in the underwater palace to begin her quest. Will Nola reign supreme? Will the peace be shattered? Come along on another magical adventure with us!
