I’ve always been in love with socks. I still remember when my grandmother taught me to knit, I was fascinated by how she could model them. In these years I have enjoyed studying and experimenting with various construction techniques (worked flat, toe-up or cuff-down), realizing some photo tutorials that I have published in my blog Knittingcakes. I used different types of needles (circular, dpns, neko) but my favourites are circular ones, I always bring with me a couple of 2,5 mm needles with a 80 cm long cable. My patterns are always influenced by art and architecture - I’m an architect! - but since I met her, yarn has become an important part of my inspiration. I’m talking about Katiuscia Bayslak, a brilliant indie dyer, owner of TheYarnJuice. Katiuscia is an eclectic artist but, most of all, is my friend. The following patterns are made with her yarn (from which they are named) and she also realized the beautiful sketches you will find in this mini collection.
