The rose motif on this bag and beret was inspired by the work of Scottish architect and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Mackintosh was born in Glasgow in 1868 and through the development of his own style he designed some of the most beautiful buildings Glasgow has to offer, which include The Glasgow School of Art, Mrs Cranston’s Tea Rooms, Scotland Street School and Queen’s Cross Church. He was well known for his floral-inspired decorative motifs and it is from these that I have taken my inspiration for the design on this bag and beret. I was also encouraged by The Yarn Cake in Glasgow and their knitwear design competition, The Glasgow School of Yarn!
