In this pattern the right side is in reverse stockinette stitch. When the pattern begins though, you will be working with the stockinette stitch side facing out (the wrong side) for the ease of knitting every row instead of purling. When making the thumbhole you will be working back and forth on the right side and wrong side. When you join to work in the round again for the cuff, you will join it with the right side (the reverse stockinette side) facing out.
