This top, which was originally written by me 12 years ago, has been re-designed and re-written so that it is adaptable to any size. The pattern gives instructions for adjustments to basic small, medium, large and 3X sizes, but there are also instructions for any custom size you wish to make. You can also adjust the length.

Note that the 3X size uses worsted weight yarn with a gauge of 17sts/4” while the smaller sizes use sport/light worsted yarn with a gauge of 22sts/4”. You should swatch for gauge in order to decide on needle size. Since it is completely adjustable you can really use any yarn that takes your fancy.

There are only very basic knitting stitches used in this pattern but because of the diagonal knitting and the unusual construction, I am considering it an intermediate level pattern. However, if you can knit, purl, decrease and increase stitches, and follow instructions exactly, then give it a go. The pattern has been test knitted on Ravelry, and I am always willing to answer questions.

Some yarns, when hanging at a diagonal will sag out of shape and/or expand in size unless you use a very tight gauge. If needed, go down a needle size to get a very firm knitted fabric. This will not be necessary with wool mixes, but cotton or microfiber ribbon are likely to expand.

Happy knitting….
