Colour wraps around the left front from the back in this two-tone cardigan, creating a dramatic effect without overstatement. The perfectly executed zigzag front—created through shaping, not charting—is an easy and satisfyingly neat introduction to intarsia colourwork.

Choose cropped or full length to suit your personal style. Worked bottom up, this cardigan is knit in pieces with set-in sleeves and a seamed construction that make for a perfect fit and ensure this wardrobe staple will last for years.

#sizeinclusive up to 70” (178 cm) finished chest measurement.

This knitting pattern includes written directions, charted and written instructions for simple intarsia pattern, front and back images, and detailed schematic with measurements.

Substitution Notes
Choose a worsted weight yarn. The original is a non-superwash that works up at 4.5 to 5 sts per inch (2.5 cm) on 4 to 5.5 mm (US 6-9) needles. Wools (including superwash), wool blends, and acrylics will substitute well.

Techniques
Increases/decreases, working simple stitch pattern and intarsia from chart or written instructions, basic sweater construction, English tailored shoulders (instructions provided), worked flat, picking up stitches, seaming, buttonholes, sewing on buttons.
