Zigzag Hat
2022 UPDATE
ZigZag has now been reformatted and updated to include two versions, to work flat or to knit in the round.
ZigZag is a reversible hat that can be worn in two ways – with the insides of the diamonds facing out (wrong side out) like the first picture, or with the diamonds facing in (right side out) like the third picture.
There is a lot of stretch to this hat as the ZigZag pattern is ribbed. I wanted to make something chunky, yet not too heavy, with an interesting pattern that would be suitable for knitters of all skill levels.
What I love about this pattern is the flower that appears on the crown of the hat after you have made the decreases. The ‘petals’ reach right down to the brim, and depending on which way around you wear the hat you can vary how much this stands out. I still haven’t decided which way around I prefer it.
Two versions of the pattern are available when you click to buy, to knit flat or in the round
