This ethnographic mitten from the District of Zemgale, Latvia dates to circa 18th Century as a bridegroom’s mitten. The cuff has two rows of fringes - one of which is in three colors and the other is in four colors. One Latvian braid is used above the first fringe whereas a half braid is used above the second row of fringes. The mitten uses five colors in all with some embroidery applied on the top of a some of the symbols. There is a seperate thumb pattern provided.
