Yvonne's Wings
Yvonne’s Wings in loving memory of Yvonne Eyer or RedHatKnitter on Ravelry
Yvonne and I met a few years ago when she first started test knitting my patterns. Because she was honest and thorough, she became a crucial part of my design process. Soon, our conversations went from patterns to more personal topics and she became a really good friend and my adopted knitting mum. We vowed to meet one day. She was as important to me and to my patterns as my needles and yarn. I find it difficult to imagine the creative process without her. Yvonne, I will miss you dearly, my friend, although I know you’re still with me in my designs. You have given me, and so many others, more than you know. You will always be in my heart and in everything I knit. As I’ve said before, I hope you are knitting with the angels as you are an angel yourself.
Yvonne’s love was lace and I remember her telling me Faroese was one of her favorite shapes. This is a top down lace Faroese shawl knit with beads in the border to give it weight and beauty just as I imagine she would love.
The directions are charted as well as written out. These are Yvonne’s Angel Wings wrapped around me. Always.
