York Minster is the second largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe and has some amazing stained glass windows, not least the circular rose window which dates back to the 13th century.
With the crown of this hat I have tried to suggest the tracery of the stone and the light shining through the glass.
The design of the hat is a traditional tam knitted in the round with an inner band, corrugated rib and then stitch increases to form the beret shape followed by the crown decreases which create the hexagonal pattern. There are 6 different colours used and a good project for mini skeins
