This is the pattern to accompany Yarn Dragon’s “How to Knit Socks” videos on social media.
This sock is my favorite portable knitting. It is simple and mindless. I’ve made every effort to keep it that way. For me, this sock is about being uncomplicated but totally functional. It’s a simple fidget spinner that I can lose myself in.
The 2 by 2 rhythm of knits and purls runs throughout, and the magic loop technique makes keeping track of what stitches go where completely intuitive. Small details like picking up an extra stitch at the gusset to close the dreaded heel holes and adding twisted stitches on the first row after picking up the heel flap make the sock wonderfully functional without overcomplicating things.
Best of all, the 2x2 sock does everything a sock should. It stretches to fit wide spots, shrinks in around smaller spots, and stands up straight all day. This sock isn’t a floppy foot sack. It is a marvel of structural engineering that will fit just about any foot you make it for.

Sizes Small (Large) fit foot circumference as measured at the ball of the foot 8.5” (21.5cm) (9.5” (24cm)).

Foot and leg lengths are totally adjustable. I’ll give you instructions on how to adjust that in the pattern. Feet longer than 11” 28cm or a leg longer than 6” 15cm may require more than one skein of yarn.
