WW1 Trench Cap
Originally published in the Khaki Knitting Book (Oct. 1917), this pattern for Men’s Trench Caps has been rewritten in modern terms on my blog and is available FOR FREE.
Be sure to visit the blog post to get the pattern from its original source as well as the modernized version and your daily dose of history!
The pattern is one size, but because it is mostly 2x2 ribbing, it will fit a variety of head sizes (including my large head).
To make the pattern, I used 1 skein of Wool of the Andes in Mink Heather - any worsted weight yarn in gray or khaki is recommended by the original pattern.
You will need:
- Worsted weight yarn in gray or khaki
- Dpns size US 4 (3.5mm) OR circular needles of the same size
- Snips
- Tapestry needle
If you would like to use circular needles, there is a note on how to adjust the instructions immediately above the gauge note in the blog post.
I’d love to see photos of your finished creations - tag me @craftematics on Instagram and Facebook or log your project here on Ravelry!
