TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close as possible to the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.

  • Cast-on
  • Bind-off
  • Garter stitch
  • Optional two row buttonholes using cable cast-on
  • Pick-up and knit stitches

Regardless of ACTUAL BODY MEASUREMENTS, everyone prefers a different finished look. It is helpful to use the FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS, in the photo chart,
which refers to this specific garment only. It can help you choose the look you prefer.

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE

  • Rowan Yarns - Lima
  • 84% baby alpaca—8% merino wool—8% nylon
  • 1.75 ounces-(50 grams) - 120 yards-(130.4 meters)
  • 7(8 - 9 - 10 - 12) balls

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

FOR A SUBSTITUTE YARN

SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZES
- Size 8-(5mm) and size 10.5-(6.5 mm) straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge

  • Yarn markers - number 10 crochet thread in a contrasting color is great for yarn markers

  • Five double pointed needles, size 6-(4 mm) or smaller to temporarily hold stitches instead of stitch holders
  • Point protectors help prevent stitches from slipping off the double-pointed needles
  • Tapestry needle
  • Five large decorative snaps—30mm
  • Five buttons—1.25 inch-(38 mm) size
