Wriggly Socks
The inspiration for these socks came to me when our French Angora rabbit “Pancake“ had her first litter of kits. I tried desperately to take a good photo of them but they were so wriggly there were only furry blurs! The sample is the 75-st size; snuggly fitting a 9” circ foot.
PATTERN DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Advanced Intermediate; skills
required include: slip stitch colorwork, cabling slipped stitches,
picking up stitches, short-row shaping, decreases and increases
SIZES: 60 (75, 90) sts: Child/Adult XS (M, XL): to fit 7 (8.5, 10)“ /17.75 (21.5, 25.5)cm foot circ with 1”/2.5cm negative ease
GAUGE: with smaller needles, blocked
36 sts & 46 rows = 4“/10cm in stockinette stitch
40 sts & 62 rows = 4“/10cm in charted pattern stitch
MATERIALS:
2-50+g skeins of sock yarn in contrasting colors
Shown above: MC: Hazel Knits Piquant Lite 90% Merino wool/10% nylon-polyamide (110g/3.88oz)
400 yds/366 m, Color Primrose: 1 skein AND CC: Direful Yarns sock yarn: 80% Merino wool/ 20%
nylon/polyamide (100g/3.53oz) 400 yds/366 m color Never Trust the Living: 1 skein.
U.S. 1 (2.25 mm) needles
U.S 2 (2.75 mm) needles
Cable needle
4-6 stitch markers
