“This stitch pattern was inspired by looking closely at the way linked shapes interact and join,” says designer Emma Vining. “The hexagon pattern is made with twisted stitches which are joined in two ways. First, a rib line runs from the cast-on rib to the cast-off rib edges through the centre of every second hexagon. Second, where the hexagons meet each other, the stitches are wrapped, pulling them together.”
The crisp geometric pattern provides structure as well as texture. The bag is lined, and interfacing can also be used if desired, to provide extra support to the knitted fabric. Emma has knitted her bag using Yarn Stories Fine Merino & Baby Alpaca Aran yarn, which comes in 12 sophisticated shades.
