A traditional Scandinavian style heart basket, often made by children out of paper. This knit version is simple enough for a beginner knitter and also a good tool for the experienced knitter to learn how to knit flat without turning your work, a helpful trick when knitting entrelac.

Skill: Beginner.

Size: One size. Assembled heart measures approximately 4.25”/10.8 cm wide by 4.25”/10.8 cm tall, excluding handle.

Gauge: 22 sts = 4”/10 cm, but size is not critical. The fabric created is somewhat firm.

Yarn: dk weight yarn approximately 35 yds/32 m each of two colors. Model used Rauma Strikkegarn.

Needles and notions: US Size 3 (3.25 mm) knitting needles, three locking stitch markers, yarn bobbin and two small stitch holders.
