Wooly Strix - Owl Amigurumi
Wooly Strix is the featured crochet pattern for the 2025 Puget Sound LYS Tour at Stranded by the Sea in Edmonds, WA! Visit the shop during the tour, May 14–18, 2025, to receive this pattern for free.
Say hello to your new wooly, feathered companion - Wooly Strix - Owl Amigurumi! By holding a neutral coloured yarn together with Suri Alpaca or Mohair, you’ll achieve a marled feathery effect reminiscent of downy plumage. The pattern is designed with customization in mind, so you can craft your favorite member of the Strix genus—personally, I’m partial to the Spotted Owl (Strix Occidentalis).
This crochet pattern is rated intermediate and is for those comfortable with a variety of amigurumi shaping techniques and seaming small parts. It uses stitches and methods such as single crochet, increases, decreases, and half double crochet, all worked in the round. You’ll also be changing colors, holding yarn double for added texture, and attaching small components to bring your owl to life.
Wooly Strix is a written pattern, in English US crochet terms.
